Art Bengaluru is South India’s leading contemporary Art Festival, and 2016 saw the festival in its 7th year. One of the most reputed Art Festivals in India, Art Bengaluru has been created to showcase a wide spectrum of art forms and provide a platform for artists (both Indian and International) to exhibit their works. The festival, at its core, comprises of four distinct verticals – Art, Performance Art, Workshops and Speaking Sessions. A fifth vertical, Cinema, was added this year.

Showcased at UB City, from 19-28 August 2016, YES Bank Art Bengaluru played host to over 30 artists from around the world: China, France, Italy, Netherlands, and Spain, to name a few. The festival was organized in association with Navrathan that also saw the association of Alliance Francaise, Berserk, British Council, Consulate of Israel, Instituto Cervantes, Italian Institute of Culture, the Karnataka Tourism Board, and the Museum of Goa. The festival featured performances by Karsh Kale Collective, Wolfpack, and Sivamani’s Siraha Trio, while workshops targeting all age groups and speaker sessions by renowned artists kept the audiences engaged. The newly created vertical, Cinema, brought world-cinema to the forefront through “7 French Billiards” (a Spanish film), “Romeo and Juliet” (English language), and “It’s Gonna Take a Miracle” (an Italian movie) to complete the 10-day long festival. People came in leaps and bounds to “Celebrate the World with the Spirit of India”; the theme of the seventh edition and in the process further enhanced the Festival’s growing reputation.

YES Bank Art Bengaluru signed off 2016, with a promise to return even bigger the following year.

Organizing an event of this scale wouldn’t be possible without a strong support system, for which credit goes to Prestige Group, Sublime Galleria & The Collection at UB City.

Art Bengaluru, South India’s only Contemporary Art Festival takes place each year at Bangalore’s favorite destination – UB City, which is centrally located in the business district of the city.
